SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL CALIFORNIA

Don’t Let Clean Fuel Jobs Leave California

The Governor’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) incentive supports clean energy, protects skilled union jobs, and ensures production stays in California, not in competing states.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Why the Governor’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Tax Incentive is Important to California

California has prioritized being a leader in clean energy while also supporting companies and workers through this transition. The Governor’s budget proposal is a reflection of these values and will help ensure that SAF production happens in California, not in competing states.

An Investment in Workers and Clean Air

Sustainable aviation fuel reduces emissions while supporting the skilled workforce that powers California’s energy economy. With the right incentives, California can continue leading in clean energy while protecting jobs and communities.

REAL IMPACT

Stronger Jobs. Cleaner Air. Lasting Results.

Drives Clean Energy Investment

Sustainable aviation fuel is currently the only scalable pathway to reduce aviation emissions over the coming decades.

But, existing fuel facilities cannot switch to SAF production without major capital investment and long-term policy certainty. This incentive helps achieve both.

Supports Skilled Union Jobs

This incentive helps keep fuel facilities operating in California, protecting thousands of skilled jobs while allowing workers to apply their expertise to the next generation of cleaner fuels.

That’s why Laborers, Boilermakers, United Steelworkers and other trades are supporting the Governor’s proposed SAF incentive.

Improves Air Quality

Research shows SAF can reduce particulate emissions by up to 70% compared with conventional jet fuel.

Greater SAF use could directly improve air quality and public health for communities around airports, which are more likely to be lower-income communities of color.
